Calculations by the Kiel Institute published last week show that the US had spent some $46.6 billion in financial aid for military purposes in Ukraine since the start of the war in the country until January 15, 2023.
The figure is higher than an annual average military spending of $43.4 billion by the US in Afghanistan between 2001 and 2010, according to charts published in the study.
The United States government is facing growing criticism about its massive funding of the war in Ukraine with some members of the Republican Party saying that they intend to block aid to Ukraine.
